SNT receives “The Science and Practice of Ecology and Society Award” in Serena Hotel Gilgit

Gilgit, April 9: Dr. Aziz Ali Najam, Vice Chancelor KIU and Izhar Ali Hunzai, GM AKRSP  presented  ‘The Science and Practice of Ecology and Society Award‘  to the SNT representatives in presence of a large number of local, national and international delegates participating the international conference on Partnership and Networking, in Serene Hotel, Gilgit.  Mehjabeen Abidi-Habib, a LEAD Pakistan Fellow and Vice Chair of the LEAD International Board of Directors, who is the co-author with Anna Lawrence of the Research study titled, Revolt and Remember: How the Shimshal Nature Trust Develops and Sustains Social-Ecological Resilience in Northern Pakistan was also present at the occasion.

Mehjabeen in her speech praised the community of Shimshal for developing a sustainable mechanism for the conservation and preservation of nature. She also shared some of the comments from Pamir Times to highlight the importance of the award for the local community.
