“Access to Information and the Empowerment of People” is slogan of this year’s World Press Freedom Day, celebrated across the world. The day has been celebrated regularly by the UN and other relevant organizaiton since 1993 when the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed World Press Freedom Day, following a recommendation adopted at the twenty-sixth session of UNESCO’s General Conference in 1991. The international day is celebrated to acknowledge the right to freedom of expression and information.

The day is meant to serve as an occasion that draws attention of governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to violations of people’s right to free speech and information, and to remind the as civil society of the crucial role free speech plays in strengthening democracies and fostering development around the world. گلگت (سٹاف رپورٹر) پاک چین سرحد کھلتے ہی نیٹکو کی بس مسافروں کے لے کر چین روانہ ہوگئی ہے سرحد کے کھلتے ہی گلگت سے نیٹکو کی پہلی بس 28مسافروں کو لے کر چین کے شہر کاشغر روانہ ہوگئی ہے نیٹکو ذرائع کے مطابق پاک چین سرحد پر واقع شہر سوست سے بھی 3لینڈ کروزرز بھی مسافروں کو لے کر چین روانہ ہوئیں چین سے بھی مختلف گاڑیاں مسافروں کو لے کر پاکستان کی طرف روانہ ہوگئی ہیں پاک چین سرحد کے کھلتے ہی تجارتی مرکز سوست میں کاروباری سرگرمیاں شروع ہوگئی ہیں جس کی وجہ سے سوست کی رونقیں دوبالا ہوگئی ہیں۔
