KKH opens for traffic

Hunza, May 23: The Karakuram Highway (KKH) has been opened for traffic after Chinese engineers, working on expansion of the KKH, worked on the damages caused to the roadby flow of mud and water from the nearby Ghulkin glacier. According to local people the flooding was caused by the diversion of water’s direction from the traditional route. The flooding has caused heavy damages to potato fields and orchards.
The scouts and volunteers had constructed a temporary wooden bridge for passegers to cross the road. According to last minute updates, the overflow of water has stopped completely.
