Six killed in Gilgit accident

GILGIT, January 21: Six passengers were killed on Tuesday when a vehicle skidded off a road in a mountainous area and fell into a ravine, sources said. The vehicle was heading towards Astore, a hilly area that had received heavy snowfall and rains during the weekend’s fresh spell, when it met the accident. The cause of the accident couldn’t be ascertained. Sources said the vehicle might have slipped due to snow on the road. Local people backed by the police immediately launched a rescue operation and retrieved the bodies from the ravine at Astore where temperature had plummeted 10-degree below the freezing point. Shocking news indeed.

May Allah rest their souls in eternal peace. Aamin.

The cause of accident has yet to be known. All the drivers using KKH from Gilgit to Gojal should take care while driving on snow.
