Election schedule for remaining constituencies announced

Islamabad, November 25: The election commission has announced polling and re-polling schedules, respectively, for LA 19, Ghizar 1 and LA 17, Diamir 3.  According to details polling in Ghizar 1 would be held on December 22 while re – polling in four polling stations of Diamir would be held on December 3.

Election in the constituency of Ghizar had been postponed due to death of MQM candidate, while in Diamir the polling had been stopped due to violent activities of the supporters of two candidates. The violent clashes had led to death of two people, injuring more than forty, due to indiscriminate firing incidents.

According to information obtained by Pamir Times, a teacher named Shamsher Khan who had received three bullet wounds during the polling related clashes in Diamir, while on official duty, has been completely neglected by the government, in terms of provision of quality health services.

Candidates in Ghizar have been asked to file nomination papers by December 1, while the result is to be declared by December 23, one day after the polling.

In another election related development, Mehboob Ali Abbas and Captain (r) Hadi Hussain of MQM have been released from police custody, in Gilgit city.

    Hope there will be no rigging in the remaining election at least to prove that the earlier election was fair.
