FOCUS monitoring the lake formed on Hunza River

A team of FOCUS Pakistan is monitoring the lake formed on Hunza River as a result of Attabad landslide disaster with the help of CCTV cameras on 24 hours basis. The lake monitoring station has been established as part of an Early Warning System devised by FOCUS Pakistan for safeguarding life in the downstream areas in case of a lake outburst.

Automatic early warning sirens have been installed in 12 vulnerable villages of Hunza – Nagar and Gilgit districts while evacuation plans have been developed for 23 vulnerable villages.
