Gulmit, May 17: According to information obtained by Pamir Times a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) has taken place at Passu village of the Gojal Tehsil.

Analysts are of the opinion that water level in Hunza River is likely to rise manifolds due to this flood. The increased water flow will also increase the daily average water rise level in the lake formed on Hunza River, leading to an earlier spillover.

It it pertinent to note here that the distance from Passu to the Attabad lake barrier is around 24 kilometers.
