A new ghost political party, Gilgit-Baltistan National Congress, emerges at international stage

GENEVA, June 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — A conference on “Ground Reality in Gilgit-Baltistan” was held in the United Nations Geneva Room No. XXVII during the 14th Human Rights Council to address the issues and concerns of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, which is a region of Jammu & Kashmir under Pakistani occupation. At the end of the conference, MEP Ryszard Czarnecki and Senge Hasnan Sering of Gilgit-Baltistan National Congress called the press to issue a joint statement.

The MEP informed the audience about the partnership which has developed between the advocacy groups of Gilgit-Baltistan and the representatives of the EUP. He said that the partnership has helped promote the cause of self determination of Gilgit-Baltistan and highlighted the plight of the people. MEP expressed his concern that Gilgit-Baltistan is situated in a politically sensitive region and surrounded by three nuclear powers namely India, Pakistan and China. Moreover, if the genuine demands of the natives of this region are not respected then it can cause further instability. He said, ”India and Pakistan must work together on the issue of Gilgit-Baltistan and constitute a working group involving the representatives of the governments of both countries as well as those from the civil society of Gilgit-Baltistan.” MEP also expressed his concern for Pakistan’s unilateral decision to use the land and resources of Gilgit-Baltistan to construct mega dams, which inundates local dwellings, farmland, pastures and also impacts the wildlife habitats.

MEP expressed his disappointment with the government of Pakistan, after being refused the permission to visit Gilgit-Baltistan, which could have allowed him to learn about the ground realities. He showed his desire to meet the members of the civil society and human rights defenders of Gilgit-Baltistan after receiving the opportunity to travel to Gilgit-Baltistan. MEP said, ”The issue of Gilgit-Baltistan will be raised in the European Union Parliament, and the members will be informed about Pakistan’s apathy towards the rights and concerns of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.”

Mr. Senge Hasnan Sering, who is in Geneva to attend the fourteenth UNHRC Session, also spoke on the occasion to the media and members of advocacy groups, HR defenders and political action committees. He said, ”Pakistan’s presence in Gilgit-Baltistan is illegal and the unilateral decision to impose herself on the land and people of Gilgit-Baltistan is a clear violation of the resolutions of the UNCIP on Jammu & Kashmir. If Pakistan continues to occupy the region, the unstable political conditions may ensue in a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. It is in the best interest of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan as well as the international community to persuade Pakistan to withdraw its forces and civil administration from the region.”

Senge Sering objected to the fact that Pakistani citizens continue to arrive in Gilgit-Baltistan and acquire assets, mining leases and claim citizenship to the area. The situation is leading to change in local religious, ethnic and cultural demography and enabling the Pakistani citizens to claim their stake in region’s political matters. Senge Sering said that his party Gilgit-Baltistan National Congress will also raise this issue with the members of the American Congress. He also expressed his concern over the plight of the people of Hunza and Gojal, who have suffered due to the landslides, glacial outbursts and inundation of their villages in the last few months. He condemned Pakistani government for not reaching out to the local people to solve their issues. He said, ‘Pakistan is only interested in exploiting the natural resources, which lawfully belong to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. The locals are denied the right to own and earn income from the use of natural resources since Islamabad makes decisions on their behalf.’ In the end, both MEP and Senge Sering appealed to the representatives of the advocacy groups to support the cause of Gilgit-Baltistan and help others learn about this region.

  1. this is what we deserve…………it is the absolute reality but still we have political innocency what i call prevails our minds…….i can see the light shimmering…our destiny is not far but in the way…..we are liberal!!!!
we do n’t need fake province[ GilgiBaltistan] just made over a night when they saw the rising political awarness…..

  2. Everyone has the right to form or join a political party in a free world! Isn’t it?
It will be unfair to call youth initiatives ‘ghost’.

Like Mushaaraf and their supportors are trying to organize support these days, or like the MQM, PTI or others did during elections.

Let our educated youth, with nationalist aspirations, come forward with their agenda for social, economic and political change in this unfortunate region.

Senge Hasnan Sering is son of the soil, educated and respected here in Baltistan and GB. Lets hope he is able to muster support at home, but more so able to campaign for the rights of the ill-fated people of GB on international stage.

Senge, my prayers are with you.

  3. MEP Ryszard Czarnecki and Senge Hasnan Sering are poles, Abdul Hameed Khan has never even been Chairman of Muncipal Committee, where was he during the last election when the entire Gilgit and Baltistan voted. After all the people who were elected belong to Gilgit Baltistan and not only Majini Mohallah alone.
It is very easy to sit in UN and issue statements like Israel is doing against the Arabs. Mr.Ryszard is a journalist anmd should have atleast cared for hisfuture credibility. After issuing these statements he has become a yellow journalist.
Abdul Hamid is only collecting Dollars, his children are studying abroad, he did not choose to democratically stand in the elections, he is only acting in favour of the Indians to ruin the cause of Kashmir where the Indian forces are doing what the collation is doing in Afghanistan.
I would very much appreciate if MEP Ryszard Czarnecki and Senge Hasnan Sering issue a joint statement about 1. what they think about Indian Military action in Kashmir, 2. Isreal’s blockade of Ghaza and killing of his fellow journalists 3.Drone strikes in Pakistan killing children.
The people of Gilgit are not hungry for Dollars which journalists like MEP Ryszard Czarnecki and Senge Hasnan Sering are accepting to issue statements. I suggest, like real journalists they should first visit Gilgit Baltistan and ascertain how big a chairmen Abdul Hamid is then use the podium of UN to mislead the world!
Abdul Hameed does not even enjoy popularity in the Majini Mohallah ( Neighbourhood) where he lives what to talk of Gilgit Baltistan. Therefore the statements of MEP Ryszard Czarnecki and Senge Hasnan Sering are SHAMEFUL!They should be thrown out of the UN for being so irresponsible. Why dont they visit the elected parlimentarians of Gilgit BAltistan to find out how popular Mr Abdul Hameed is.

  4. Senge, a Polish citizen, spent two years at the RAW managed, Delhi based, IDSA (Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis), so his pro-India stand is understandable.

He authored a famous piece for the “POK NEWS Digest”. His links with the Inidan establishment are well known and documented.

He does not need to be taken seriously for the ‘patriotic surge’ that he felt, in lieu of dazzling Euro coins.

The other guy is irrelevant. He is working for the Jewish lobby, hell bent on breaking Pakistan.

The PR is part of a pressure building campaign orchestrated by FBI/RAW/MOSAD to undermine the security of Pakistan. Another ‘communique’ in this series is the LSE professor’s interviews with ghost Taliban commanders.

Indeed, the GBNC is nothing more than a one-man Ghost party.

“……Of late, modern Balti scholars such as Ghulam Hassan Lobsang, Ghulam Hassan Hasni, Syed Abbas Kazmi and Mohammad Senge Tshering Hasnain have contributed greatly to the re-discovery of the Balti culture”.

Mohammad Hasnain Senge Thsering( Tsering/Sering) is probably NOT the person talked about by other worthy bloggers. He loves Tibetan/Balti culture and is a young researcher and rights activist.

  6. Pamer Times
………. some articles of our enemies or their agents against me and Mr. Senge. Though I was not present in that press conference which has been mentioned.

Wazir Shamshad Ali and Sahil Baig like Pakistani agentshave use nonsense and absurd words against Serang and me without any knowledge or may be a little knowledge like a haweldar.

These are stupid agents who even don’t know what MEP means. He term (MEP) was used as journalist, while it stands for Member of European Parliament not journalist.
Secondly ask them on whose behalf your are barking. Senge is son of soil he was chosen as an intellectual by a prestigious Defense Analysis Institute of New Delhi India, which gives such facilities to very high intellectual character people like Senge, where few top ranking Pakistanis have also got opportunity to enter.

We the people of Gilgit Baltistan are virtually slaves in the prison of 72000 KM area, while the people of Indian side of J&K are free to speech and moment. APHC like ISI agents are enough to speak against India in J&K and we the slave people of Pakistan Occupied Balawaristan are struggling against Pakistani occupation. What hell the People of J&K and people of Palestine are doing for us, if not why should take their issue. …………

No other issue whether Ghaza, Kashmir or Waziristan can divert our attention from Pakistani occupied Balawaristan (Chitral, Gilgit Baltistan and Shhenaki Kohistan)

    ……..

Not we the people of Balawaristan, but Pakistani are earning dollars even by selling their honour and dignity. Yes, we need world community help for freedom with honour and dignity.

    1. Mr Hamid Khan can you please let the people know about your qualification and in which division you passed your FA. And please kindly tell everyone that you have appointed your relatives from Ghizer on posts in Lahore and other cities. And where are you getting all those Euro s that you are sending them here to Pakistan, you don’t use to have some thousands in your pocket when you were here in Gilgit. Who can trust your credibility, stop ruining minds of students. Anyone who speaks against you, you call them ISI Agent, this is so stupid. May be you will call me an ISI Agent too. If you are so sympathetic to your place why didn’t you send some aid to Ghizer land slides affectees or Atabad people. Please don’t burn the soil on which you were born. Tell the people that you is funding you? United Nations has no such fund for bogus organizations and people hardly know you here in GB. Shame on you, you sold our dignity for some euros from ISI and other secret agencies.

In all these issues of the digest Senge has written the lead articles. It seems that he is the one who is compiling the digest.

He has been speaking the Indian line, not the logical line. He is thankful to India for giving him the fellowship, it seems, and in thankfulness he is doing his duty.
