  7. The death of uncle Muhabat shah is a gigantic loss not only for shimshal but for all walkhi communities across the borders. He was a man with full of qualities, as a live artists, specialist forester, peaceful religious leader, renown social activist, greater construction designer, a great singer, a skillful climber, a successful farmer, a perfect guide, a fabulous local musician, a visionary thinker, a leading volunteer, a great lover and practitioner of his tradition, norms and values, an evident preserver of our culture, a man with gentle nature, caring, honest, and a brilliant articulator of words and jocks to entertain the heartrending people to bring smile on their face, indifferent of levels as God had sent him on the earth specifically created as a mentor for the community belonging from all spheres of life.
I remained good enough lucky to spend time with the late uncle at different places and different journey and enjoyed his company, learned a lot from him and he made me cheered with his slapstick truthful comic facts about the society of shimshal as well as outside shimshal
I still can’t believe that he is now not among us!!!

But I must believe that God never keeps good people in the world for protracted time, because Almighty Allah wants those people back soon whose place can not be kept vacant for long time in the heaven. Everything is in hand of God we have to accept it but what we can do is that we will remember him as a unique figure in the history of shimshal and generation to generation raise our hand before almighty Allah that may his soul rest in peace. Amen.

I extend my sympathy to the sorrow family of late uncle and pray that may God give them the patience and power to overcome this moment of sorrow.

Bech Mohabat was an artist and a good human being, community leaders and social worker. I remember the first time I visited Shimshal in 1994 and recorded his and his late father’s songs and rubab, we stayed with a group at his home and we also enjoyed their hospitality. the same year, we along with other artists, which we were named, Silk route Caravan Ensemble participated in the islamic Artisan at Work festival in islamabad and annually in the Silk Route festival at Gulmit.

We hope, the young generation of shimshali would continue the legacy left behind by him and others.

  11. Indeed a very shocking news. I knew late Mobat Shah since 60’s . I guess he was one of the first few boys-had an opportunity to go to school. My father inlaw late Ghulam Sultan was the first DJ school teacher posted in Shimshal and late Mobat shah was his student. I do remember the students including Mobat Shah used to come with his teacher after a year to Gulmit and spend a night at our home in Passu.
Mobat shah was a wonderful human being, a dedicated volunteer and a highly skilled person- an artist, early adopter as a farmer, a skilled constuction person, a village activist, and a conflict resolution catalist .

My family members and I do offer condolances to his family and to the people of Shimshal village and pray for his soul to rest in permanent peace. (Ameen). I did visit his son yesterday at Pindi and could not manage to visit Shimshal at this point of time and feel sorry for that.
