[Education] Dr. Gul Nowshad of Ghizar gets PhD in medicine from USA

Gilgit, May 14:  Dr. Gul Nowshad, 41, has made Gilgit – Baltistan proud by successfully obtaining her Doctorate in Medicine from University of Texas School of Public Health.

Dr. Gul Noshad is the first physician from Gilgit - Baltistan to get a doctorate degree

Dr. Gul Nowshad, (MBBS,MPH) was a student of Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, in Pakistan. She has also worked for the Aga Khan Health Services. Later, she got a scholarship provided by the Aga Khan Foundation for her PhD at the University of Texas.

According to reports Dr. Gul Nowshad hails from Bubur Valley of Tehsil Punyal, Ghizar.

She obtained the degree on May 6, 2011 at a ceremony held in the USA, also attended by her mother.

Dr. Gul Nowshad has proven that given the opportunity, the people of Gilgit – Baltistan can leave their mark in all fields of life. Talking to this scribe, people of Bubur Valley have said that Dr. Gul’s achievement is a proud moment not only for their village, but also for the entire Gilgit – Baltistan.

  1. Very well done. She should be given a warm welcome in Gilgit. She deserves a high level protocol and publicity. She is brave woman of GB. I wonder why she is not given a better coverage? She reflects the true face of GB. Hats-off to her!!!
