[Pictory] Land connection between Hussaini and Gulmit severed, students and commuters facing problems

The above place, Chatghust (Ghulkin), in Gojal Valley is a site of several Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs). The glacier stream has changed its original course (at right) and now flows at the left side. It has caused severe destruction of land and other property, while also posing threat to other elements. A major bridge constructed here was washed away during last year's GLOF. After that the local volunteers had constructed a makeshift bridge which got washed away again recently due to increase in the volume of water. Students from Hussaini Village are facing problems in reaching schools located at Gulmit. Similarly, the people from Gulmit, Ghulkin and other parts of Gojal are also disconnected due to destruction of the bridge. The local people have demanded resolution of the connectivity issue on priority basis. (Ali Musafir/Pamir Times)
