Vacancies to be filled in various Government departments in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit—Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah said on Tuesday that the vacancies of all the government departments advertised before Aug 16 will be filled. Addressing the legislative assembly, the chief minister said the ban imposed by the federal government on the appointments did not apply on the jobs advertised before Aug 16. Mehdi Shah said he will raise the issue of Tajikistan road in his meeting with the prime minister. He said if the government decides to give this project to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government then the GB government will demand the government to also link the GB province with the project. To a question, the chief minister said the officials of the Karakoram Highway security force will go to homes after completion of the project. He said this security forces is not a police force and the provincial government had not appointed them. He said the Karakoram security force has been appointed by the National Highway Authority (NHA) and their task will complete after completion of the expansion project. Meanwhile, the House through a unanimous resolution demanded of the federal government to construct the Tajikistan road from GB instead of Chitral. Member GB Assembly Haji Nawaz Khan presented the resolution, which was unanimously passed by the House. Meanwhile a high level meeting was held here on Tuesday to review the law and order situation of Gilgit Baltistan (GB). According to official sources, the meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah and attended by senior administration, police officials, intelligence agencies as well as other stakeholders and discussed current situation and wave of violence. Law enforcing agencies briefed the Chief Minister about the situation. The chief minister Mehdi Shah directed the law enforcing agencies to take stern actions against the criminals. Meanwhile the Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued stay order against closing post office located at Mochi Gate and issued notices to Postmaster General Central Punjab and others for October 17. Justice Umar Ata Bandial passed the order on a petition filed by the Leather Rexine and Shoes Material Merchant Association through its president.
