Politics of the absurd – Opposition leader joins GB government!

PT Report

Gilgit, October 16: Hitherto leader of the opposition in Gilgit – Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA), Bashir Ahmed Khan, today took oath as a minister in the GB government. His portfolio as minister will be decided later.

The oath was administered by Governor, Syed Pir Karam Ali Shah.

Speaking to the media after the oath ceremony, Khan said that he would fight against corruption in the government. As Opposition Leader, he had been blasting the government for corruption, mismanagement and financial thuggery.

That he joined the same government as a minister puts the credibility of his earlier assertions, as well as the nature of his current intentions in doubt.

Observers believe that the menace of horse trading and floor crossing has also seeped into Gilgit – Baltistan, where the current government comprises of federal parties, known for corruption and dishonesty across the world.

The PML-Q leadership in GB defend the decision citing the decision of their party leaders in Islamabad to rejoin the PPP led coalition. However, this explanation fails to persuade those seeking the politics of principles in Gilgit – Baltistan.

  1. I think the politics of “opportunism” and personal interests is high in NA Pakistan like its prevalent in rest of the country. What else one could expect from a gov run by Mr. 10%
Look at rest of the country. He is throwing bones all over to get everyone on board. People of the locality who have voted for this guy , i say , first of all , shame on you for not knowing this guy’s credibility and secondly those who have voted him for first time, watch out next time.
This is donkey trading not horse trading.
