Marafie Foundation signs MoU with GB government for establishment of Skardu hospital

PT Report

Islamabad, November 18: Marafie Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Gilgit – Baltistan for establishment of a tertiary care hospital in Skardu, the headquarters of Baltistan region. The government will provide 50

Kanals of land to the NGO for construction of the hospital.

The agreement was signed by former DIG and a trustee of Marafie Foundation, Afzal Shigri, and GB Health Secretary, Hasan Amacha.

The foundation has an extensive network of dispensaries and schools in the Skardu and Ghangche districts of GB, providing much needed health and educational services to the impoverished people.

The decision of Marafie Foundation to establish the hospital is likely to provide quality health services to thousands of people belonging to all parts of GB.

It is pertinent to note that there is an acute dearth of health facilities in GB and the government has not been able to bring any significant changes in this sector for a long period of time. The investment by civil society organizations is likely to fill the gap and make living easier for the people of Gilgit – Baltistan.
