Pak-China Rail accord next year: Chattha

Asim Iqbal

Gilgit - China has in principle agreed to construct a railway track from Xinjiang to Pakistan  through Gilgit-Baltistan. Feasibility study for the  and feasibility study of the project will be conducted soon.

This was disclosed by GB Chief Secretary Saif Ullah Catha while talking to reporters yesterday. He said the rail link between the two countries would help to enhance trade ties.

“The  accord for the project will be signed next year”, he added.

He, however, did not discuss the proposed project in detail. It is pertinent to note that rail-link proposals between the two countries were first discussed during the Musharraf period.
