Gilgit, April 10: Thirty four hostages, including two officials of the Hunza – Nagar district administration, were freed today and handed over to the GB administration by the Ulema and social leaders of Nagar Valley. The 34 people had been abducted from different parts of the district by enraged people in retaliation to the killings of innocent travelers. Background negotiations were going on for almost a week, to ensure safety and security of the hostages.

Public circles have hailed the peaceful gesture by the people of Nagar Valley. The role of clergy is being appreciated to ensure early release of the hostages.

It is pertinent to note that save for the two district officials, all the hostages belonged to Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa.

  2. this is the second time, that the people of Nagar have not harmed their captives, despite the killing of so many Shia’s along the KKH.

  5. Good to hear the release of innocent people but still the kidnapers of the these people must be brought into justice alongwith the Chilas and Kohistan terrorists.

    1. very unusual comment, Ali. The media called it kidnapping, however you did not understand that the Nagar people actually protected the the people from being killed as they were in Chilas. Kindly keep this in mind

  6. –One must appreciate the act of Hunza-Nagar, whom safe and sound protected the 34 people. This clearly shows the good humanist approach of the leader ship of Hunza-Nagar. Most of these people are learned and they have to share in detail, how they were treated and that would be the true aspects and that would pave a strong message for the general public of GILGIT-BALTISTAN.
