Rains wreak havoc across GB, roads blocked

Gilgit, September 9: Torrential rainfall has resulted in widespread destruction in different parts of Gilgit – Baltistan.

A small bridge has been washed away in Darkoot, Yaasen, Ghizer. There are also reports about destruction of a number of houses in Darkoot.

The Karakoram Highway had been blocked at multiple locations in Hunza – Nagar and Gilgit district, due to landslide and rockfall incidents.

In Gulmit, the Tehsil Headquarters of Gojal Valley, a flood has destroyed valuable land and property in Chamangul locality. The flood water has, reportedly, also reached a Digital Exchange center of the SCO and a police station.

In Chikas area, between Nasiabad and Murtazabad Hunza, a vehicle was hit by a rockfall incident. The people inside the vehicle were lucky to remain safe. They fled the vehicle in time to save their lives.

Reports of rainfall are coming in from almost all parts of the region.

There are no reports of  loss of life, so far.
