Police constable shot dead in Gilgit

Gilgit, October 25: A police constable named Muhammad Hassan was shot dead today in broad daylight in the Jamatkhana Bazar area of Gilgit city. The constable, hailing from Skardu, sustained two bullet wounds to his head and was shifted to the DHQ hospital in critical condition.

He breathed his last at the hospital.

Police have claimed to arrest around a dozen people in connection with the murder, for the purpose of investigation. They have also taken a car into custody, which was reportedly used by the assailants.

According to some sources, the death may have been the result of personal animosity. Exact cause of the murder was not known till posting of this report.
