Karachi: Senior citizens from Hunza and Gilgit tour the metropolis

Karachi, January 13 (PR): The Hunza-Gilgit Social Welfare Organization (HGSWO) organised a special event for senior citizens from Hunza and Gilgit, especially for those who are visiting Karachi this winter.

Participants of the tour were men and women above 55 years of age and belonged to different parts from Lower (shinaki), Upper (Gojal) and Central Hunza, and Gilgit district. Almost 200 senior citizens and volunteers participated in the tour. The event started with site seeing tour of PAF Museum.

The participants were brought in from various localities of Karachi via efficient and comfortable transport services. The elders explored Aircrafts and the archives of Pakistan Air Force. They also watched the Maritime Ships.

The second half of the day was spent at a Farm House located on the Super Highway, where traditional food was served to the elders. This was followed by sharing of experiences, mostly in Shina, Burushaski and Wakhi, three of Gilgit-Baltistan’s many languages.

The tour was concluded with a rich cultural program, in which the elders danced to local tunes.
