Gulmit, March 21: Tough players from Shishkat Village of Gojal Valley defeated their opponents during a Tug of War competition held in connection with celebrations of the Persian year, i.e Navorz.

A large number of men and women had gathered to witness the healthy competition held in a friendly environment. The event had been organized by the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board, a volunteer organization working for promotion of youth welfare.

The event was attended among others by Sharif Khan, President of Ismaili Regional Council for Hunza, along with Nazir Ahmad Bulbul, renowned poet and President of the Ismaili Council for Gulmit. General Manager of Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, Nawab Ali Khan, was also present. A large number of notables, including community leaders, were also present.

Prizes were distributed among the winning and runner-up teams.

Teams from Shishkat and Gulmit competed during the event.

Navroz is traditionally celebrated in the region with zeal and fervour and the occasion allows the people opportunities to come together and celebrate the arrival of spring.
