Skardu/Gilgit/Gahkuch: The Dharna of the Awami Action Committee continued on the second day in all seven districts of the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Groups of people from Rondu and Shigar joined the main procession in Yadgar Chowk, SKardu. Thundering slogans were raised in favor of the demands.

Hunders of the protesters spent the entire night at the Yadgar Chowk and Garhi Bagh in Skardu and Gilgit, respectively.

Section 144 has been imposed in Hunza-Nagar district also, where many markets remained closed for the second day.Dharnas (sit-ins) also continued in Ghizar, Astore, Diamer and Ghanche.

36 hours have passed since the sit-ins were started on the call of the Awami Action Committee.

The Dharna in Gilgit was addressed by Advocate Amjad Hussain, who is also a member of the Gilgit-Baltistan Council. He said that the subsidy on wheat can be restored by the federal government only. He also said that the GB government does not have the authority to reverse the decision of removal of the wheat subsidy. 

Yesterday night, people from different sects prayed together behind on Imam, as a sign of solidarity and unity in diversity.

While the Dharna continued for the second day, observers are of the opinion that the number of people in the sit-ins in much lesser than earlier anticipated.
