Political meddling behind unrest in Baltistan, says Chief Minister

Skardu: Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah has blamed politicians for the unrest that gripped parts of Baltistan during the last couple of weeks. He said that some ministers stirred unrest and then tried to free their people through illegal means. He revealed that a minister, who he did not name, tried to use his office to get some people involved in the unrest released. He claimed to have refused to pay heed to the minister’s request.

It is pertinent to note that supporters of two religious groups had clashed with each other in Khaplu and Skardu, creating a law and order situation.

The Chief Minister said that the he has instructed the administration to tackle nefarious elements with iron hands.
