Gilgit, September 6: Defense Day of Pakistan was celebrated in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan with national zeal and fervor. People visited the graves of the martyrs and laid flowers there, while also offering prayers for their souls.

Celebrations were also held in Gilgit at the FCNA Headquarters, where a large number of veterans had gathered to commemorate the Defense Day.

Major General Asim Munir, Commander of FCNA, paid a special visit to Hundur Valley, native village of Shaheed Lalak Jan, recipient of Nisham-e-Haider, the highest gallantry award of Pakistan. He offered prayers at the grave, while also laying a floral wreath.

Speaking at the occasion, he said that Lalak Jan, by sacrificing his life, revitalized the memories of his forefathers who had stood against aggression in 1948, liberating their region.

Defense Day is celebrated every year on the 6th of September in memory of the 1965 war fought between Pakistan and India.
