Wakhi language Mushaira and music night held in Gulmit, Gojal

A number of poets gathered last night in the Chamangul area of Gulmit to recite their Wakhi language poetry. The Mushaira had been organized by renowned cultural and social activists, Ustad Muhamamd Rehbar at his house.

Well known Wakhi language poets, including Nazir Ahmed Bulbul, Aman Ullah Nachiz (Ghulkin), Ghulam Baqir Haider, Shah Jahan Shahjee, Saeed Ullah (Ghulkin) Mir Baz Mir and Muhammad Rahim read their poems. Singers, including Ali Aman Gojali, Riaz Sahar (Chipursan), Jahanzaib, Ashique Ali, Didar Karim Bari also performed during the Mushaira.

Gul Bayaz, Rehmat Ullah, Ghulam Baig, Muzaffaruddin Shah and others played different musical instruments during the musical event.

Wakhi is one of the major languages spoken in Gilgit-Baltistan. Wakhi speakers are also present in Chitral and across the Pamir mountains in Afghanistan, Tajikistan and China.
