Baba Ghundi International Festival 2014 celebrated in Chipurson

Chipurson, Oct 3: The annual Baba Ghundi International Festival 2014 was celebrated in Chipurson valley of Gojal,  Hunza with traditional zeal and fervor.  The event was organized by Chipurson Local Support Organisation (CLSO) in collaboration with Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism Department and Aga Khan Rural Support Programme. The event featured polo, Buzkushi, tug of war and various other sporting competitions along with traditional music and dances.

This year a delegation of Kirghiz traders from Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan also participated in Buzkushi, polo and other traditional sports.

Wazir Baig, Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly was Chief Guest of the closing ceremony and  Mutabiat Shah graced the event as Guest of Honour. The guests visited the tomb of the famous Saint Baba Ghundi and offered Fatiha.

This festival is being held to commemorate the legendary Sufi Saint, Baba Gundi. The festival was first celebrated in 2009 and later calanderised by the Gilgit-Baltistan tourism department.
