Rangers Checkpost Attack: Four suspects arrested during search operation in Harban

Gilgit/Chilas, March 17: Forces have arrested at least four suspects during the search operation launched in the wake of an attack on the Rangers Checkpost near Basari, along the Diamer-Kohistan border.

According to details, the joint search teams of Pak Army, GB Scouts, Rangers and Police have so far been able to arrest three suspects from the Harban area of Kohistan district. They are believed to be behind the attack on the Rangers’ checkpost that resulted in injuries to five soldiers on Sunday night.

The detained suspects have been identified as Hazrat Ghani son of Rehmat Ghani (Kohistan), Haaro son of Abdul Jan (Kohistan) and Pharo Khan son of Gul Sher (Kohistan), reported a source on condition of anonymity, because he wasn’t authorized to talk to the media.

It is pertinent to note that earlier the forces had earlier detained a man named Haider Khan son of Babar Khan (Kohistan) with the help of the local Jirga.

A massive search operation had been launched in the region after the late-night assault on the Rangers’ checkpost.
