Diamer-Bhasha Dam: Satellite data will be used for acquisition of land transparently

Chilas, June 7: Satellite data will be used to cross check and verify the data of land acquisition submitted by revenue officers (patwaris/Tehsildars) in order to ensure transparency in acquisition of land for Diamer Bhasha Dam. In this regard, MoU and Contract agreement was signed between GB Government, WAPDA and SUPAROC at Gilgit Baltistan House on Tuesday.

District Commissioner Diamer Usman Ahmed informed this scribe that satellites have started monitoring of the activities of the field staff of revenue department. SUPARCO will prepare a computer data base and record of all the payments to the affectees of Diamer Bhasha, he added.

The MoU and contract agreement was signed by Sibtain Ahmed, Secretary Home Gilgit-Baltistan, Dr. Shafiq Ahmad, DG SUPARCO Karachi and Tanveer, Chief Engineer WAPDA.

It is worthy to mention that for first time in history of Pakistan SUPARCO is being used for land acquisition in order to ensure transparency.
