Workshop held for TVET Institutes of Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit, September 18: National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) held  two Days workshop on 16th -17tt September with the collaboration of TVET Reform Support Programme (TRSP-GIZ) for TVET Institutions of Gilgit Biltistan in Gilgit. The purpose of the workshop was “to disseminate awareness on importance of quality based TVET in accordance with the local and internationally acceptable accreditation procedures and highlights its benefits for the TVET institutes and trainees”. The initiative was taken on the direction and special interest of Executive Director NAVTTC.

Director (Accreditation) NAVTTC Hqrs, Islamabad Mr.Naeem Iqbal briefed the audience about the accreditation process and benefits of accreditation of Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET). He also briefed about the NAVTTC Accreditation still offered free of cost to encourage maximum number of TVET institutions to apply for accreditation and get involved in continuous quality improvement.

Later, Mr. Shahzad Ahmad, Deputy Director (Certification/Trade Testing) NAVTTC HQs gave the detailed presentation of Accreditation Manual & its 9 Performance areas and documents required for the NAVTTC Accreditation during the actual on site assessment by the National TVET Expert, he was also briefed about the steps of Accreditation system start from application to final decision by TVET Accreditation and Quality Evaluation Committee (TA&QEC).

On the second day, Mr. Ajmal Khan Assistant Director (Accreditation) and Ms. Sadia from GIZ briefed about the documents required for the Accreditation and how to prepared these documents at Institute level. During the documents preparation session Director Accreditation and Dy. Director also assisted and guided the participants. Since GB is in its initial stage of launch TVET Sector, therefore, Accreditation System will help in establishment of quality TVET Institute.
