Snowfall Imprisoned Broghil Residents-Pictorial

Heavy snow fall has hindered the mobility of the 2,000 inhabitants of the strategically located remote Boroghil valley in Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Broghil lies 280 km to the northeast of Chitral town at height of above 10,000 ft. The valley lacks proper road, electricity and other basic infrastructure. The snow fall has imprisoned the inhabitants with no health facilities and 100% dependency on food stored during summer. The dried dung of yak and other animals being used as fuel for heating and cooking purposes.

Senior journalist Gul Hamaadd Farooqi has recently traveled to Broghil valley and captured some photographs to highlight the miseries of the local inhabitants:
