Besham: Fresh landslide in Dassu area of Kohistan District of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province has further dimmed the hopes of Karakoram Highway opening any time soon.

Local sources have informed that the debris of the fresh landslide is upto 700 meters long. The KKH already remains blocked in several locations after torrential rainfalls last week. The KKH has been blocked for almost a week now. Prices of commoddities in Gilgit-Baltistan have shot up, and consumers are feeling the pinch.

While the Frontier Works Organization and other government departments have started clearing the road debris, several valleys and villages and districts still remain disconnected.

Yesterday, PPP leaders in a press conference in Giglit had appealed to Pakistan Army Chief to provide emergency relief to the people in despair.
