Yasin: Jan Wali, an employee of the GB Power and Water Department, is the latest worker to die while fixing an electricity line.

According to details, 45 years old Jan Wali was responding to a consumer’s complain and fixing working on pole to restore electricity supply, when his body touched a high-tension wire. He was electrocuted and died on the spot. His body was taken to a government hospital and handed over to his family members after autopsy.

The number of PWD officials dying in the line of duty has been on the rise. During the last six months, Pamir Times has reported at least half a dozen incidents in which linemen have lost their lives.

In another incident, a youth died in a bike accident in the Hundur valley of Tehsil Yasin, District Ghizer.
