Baltistan Wildlife Conservation & Development Organization among 15 winners of Equator Prize 2017

Skardu: “Baltistan Wildlife Conservation and Development Organization (BWCDO)” has been chosen as one of the 15 winners of the UNDP and Equator Prize 2017.

This is the first time that the UNDP, Equator Prize has been awarded any organization from Pakistan which is Baltistan Wildlife Conservation and Development Organization (BWCDO). A total of 806 nominations from 120 countries, three-stage peer-review process, Baltistan Wildlife Conservation and Development Organization was selected as one of the winners as an outstanding example of nature-based local solutions to sustainable development.

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and partners announced today June 29, 2017, the winners of the Equator Prize 2017, recognizing 15 local and indigenous communities from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The winning organizations, which showcase innovative solutions for tackling poverty, environment, and climate challenges, will be honoured at a celebratory gala in New York on 17 September 2017.
