Health & Environmental Concerns: 34 Crushing Plants closed in Gilgit

Gilgit: The Gilgit city administration on Saturday sealed 34 stone crushing plants in Gilgit city and Kargah valley. The privately-owned plants were sealed by a joint team comprising Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Assistant Commissioner’s office and police department.

22 of the sealed plants were located in Gilgit city, while 12 were in the Kargah valley.

The action was taken after residents of the city made written complaints, saying the crushing activity jeopardized physical and mental health of the residents.
