Islamabad, December 01: Nazir Sabir, an accomplished mountaineer, currently president of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, is one of the key note speakers at this year’s Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival, featuring “Zoom on Pakistan “.
The speaking and presentation session will be conducted tonight, on first December. Nazir Sabir is scheduled to share a multimedia presentation titled “Higher Heavens”.
Also included in the list of speakers is Steve Swenson, president of the American Alpine Club, discussing ‘how the Kashmir Conflict is being played out in these high mountains’.
Tom Phipps, a Vancouver based architect, would be presenting his travel experiences in a presentation titled, “Karakoram Shimshal Pass Trek”.
“The presentations will explore this complex country [Pakistan] from a variety of perspectives, each with a unique take on what makes it so unique”, a press note released by management of the festival reads.
I can see the legendary, Reinhold Messner too. Itz such a privilege to see this picture where all the gods of mountaineering world are in the same place.

I hope Mr. Nazir Sabir’s visit to Canada will reveal visible impact on flow of tourist to Pakistan specifically to G-B and Chitral which is most essential to help revive family incomes in the mountain society of the country.

Dear fellows at PT + well wishers
Thanks for your understanding and your encouragement. I know it is an uphill task even for the government and the whole Pakistani people to improve the image of our country when so much is against us. But we need to go on making our humble effort, even though it is like swimming against the tide of a Tsunami on the open boiling ocean. But what other choices do we have out there!
I had some three boring days in Toronto Salman. I really wish we were connected so that we could meet and discuss matters of mutual interest. You can Google me out and write me email so we remain connected till I am there next time.
Meanwhile I would like to wish you all 2010 a year of fulfillment of hopes and positive energies all along!
