ISLAMABAD, Aug 21: President\u00a0As\u0131f Al\u0131 Zardar\u0131 vowd that the federal government would extend all possible support to calm and pac\u0131fy the sufferings of the flood victims in Gilgit-Baltistan\u00a0while\u00a0talk\u0131ng to the governor and\u00a0chief\u00a0minister\u00a0of Gilgit-Balt\u0131stan \u0131n Islamabad.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Governor Gilgit – Baltistan Dr Shama Khalid and Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad and discussed the situation in Gilgit Baltitan\u00a0regarding\u00a0the damages caused due to\u00a0floods\u00a0and land\u00a0slides\u00a0as aresult of recent torrential rains .<\/p>\n

President Asif Ali Zardari directed the CM and governor to make use of all available resources for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people of Gilgit – Baltistan\u00a0region.\u00a0The president also sought\u00a0details\u00a0 perta\u0131n\u0131ng to human and property loses, \u00a0and the measures taken for provision of\u00a0relief\u00a0and rehabilitation of the afectees. \u00a0The Governor and Chief Minister briefed the President regarding the measures being taken in collaboration with the federal government for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims.<\/p>\n

The President assured that the federal government would extend all possible support to calm and pacify the sufferings of the flood victims in Gilgit-Baltistan and help rebuild their damaged homes and property. He said that the central government \u0131s ready to extend all poss\u0131ble support to the flood afectees of the whole country\u00a0including\u00a0Gilgit-Balt\u0131stan.<\/p>\n

The President said he had already requested the Chinese government to provide immediate relief and airdrop aid in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan that are inaccessible from Pakistan side.
