{"id":18044,"date":"2011-01-03T00:09:02","date_gmt":"2011-01-02T19:09:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pamirtimes.net\/?p=18044"},"modified":"2011-01-03T00:09:02","modified_gmt":"2011-01-02T19:09:02","slug":"inflation-woes-oil-price-bomb-drops-on-g-b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pamirtimes.net\/en\/2011\/01\/03\/inflation-woes-oil-price-bomb-drops-on-g-b\/","title":{"rendered":"Inflation woes: Oil price bomb drops on G-B"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><strong>Shabbir Ahmed Mir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><strong><strong>GILGIT: <\/strong>The price\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/98075\/increase-in-petroleum-prices-allies-opposition-join-hands-against-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\">increase in petroleum products<\/a> on the eve of the New Year has dealt a crushing blow to the already limited financial resources of the cash starved people of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">\u201cWhat will be the fate of people like us under such conditions,\u201d asked Jehangir Khan, a government schoolteacher who draws around Rs15,000 per month said of the untamed price hike that has impacted the country for the past couple of years. \u201cThe \u2018peoples\u2019 government has ventured on a path that leads simply to the destruction of the poor, not poverty,\u201d he said, adding that the \u2018drama\u2019 of increasing government employees\u2019 salaries last year was a tool employed by the government to keep them silent in the face of skyrocketing inflation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Jehangir wasn\u2019t the only victim of the government anti poor policy; thousands of others in G-B are reeling under the impact of the price bomb.
