They\u00a0said\u00a0the ministry has written a letter to chief secretary NWFP and Northern Areas in this regard. &#8220;We have asked\u00a0them\u00a0 to enhance security for the\u00a0bridge,&#8221; the source added.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Times;\">The bridge joins Gilgit-Baltistan and NWFP with other parts of the country and in case\u00a0it falls prey to terrorists, NWFP and Gilgit-Baltistan will be cut off from rest of the country as the only alternative route is the terror-inflicted Swat valley where Taliban have imposed there own Islamic laws completely challenging\u00a0the writ of state. <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Times;\">The source, however, refused to\u00a0identity\u00a0the said terrorists and their apparent objectives; however involvement of Taliban cannot be ruled out\u00a0as they had early attempted to Islamize the region in 1988 with aid and support\u00a0of\u00a0Zia regime causing\u00a0massacre of local non-Suni population in Jalalabad.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial;\"><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Gohar Abbas \u00a0 ISLAMABAD: Terrorists have warned to blow up Thakot Bridge on Karakurm Highway (KKH), sources in the interior ministry here said.
