Hunza:<\/strong> Hasegawa Memorial Public School & College (HMPS&C) in collaboration\u00a0<\/span>with the Space Agency of Pakistan, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), celebrated World Space Week in\u00a0<\/span>Karimabad Hunza from Oct 5, 2015 to Oct 10, 2015.\u00a0 Students from\u00a0<\/span>across Gilgit Baltistan, government representatives, civil society\u00a0<\/span>organizations, representatives of SUPARCO and general public\u00a0<\/span>participated in the programs enthusiastically.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The opening ceremony of\u00a0<\/span>the celebration was observed on Oct 5, 2015 at HMPS&C.\u00a0<\/span>Mir Ghazanfer\u00a0<\/span>Ali Khan, Member GBLA graced the occasion as chief guest.\u00a0 The\u00a0<\/span>students from across Gilgit-Baltistan got trained\u00a0 in water rocket\u00a0<\/span>designing. On Oct 7, 2015, Water Rocket Launching Competition, Speech\u00a0<\/span>Competition and Art Competition were observed. The Deputy Director of\u00a0<\/span>Education for Hunza was the chief guest on this occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0On Oct 10, 2015, the closing ceremony of the program was conducted at\u00a0<\/span>HMPS&C. The program was consisted of two parts; in the morning around\u00a0<\/span>two thousand students, 2000, from various schools participated in\u00a0<\/span>Space Walk. notables, civil society representatives, government\u00a0<\/span>officials and representatives of SUPRACO participated in the Walk. The\u00a0<\/span>chief guest of the program, Ms. Sobia Jabeen Muqadam, Provincial\u00a0<\/span>Minister for Women Development, Culture and Youth Affairs along with<\/span>
\n<\/span>accompanying guests participated in the Space Walk and later joined\u00a0<\/span>the academic and cultural show organized at HMPS&C.\u00a0 Students from\u00a0<\/span>various schools presented different entertaining and creative program.<\/span><\/p>\n

The principal HMPS&C, Mr. Nazim Aman extended welcome to all the\u00a0<\/span>guests. He explained the objectives of the program and stated that\u00a0<\/span>\u201cin accordance with the mentioned resolution passed by the United\u00a0<\/span>Nations General Assembly, 4th\u00a0 to 10th October has been declared\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWorld Space Week\u201d to celebrate the contributions of space science and\u00a0<\/span>technology in human safety, security and development.\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

It is an\u00a0<\/span>event celebrated across the globe with the objective of educating\u00a0<\/span>students and creating awareness among public regarding the threats,\u00a0<\/span>challenges and opportunities posed by the developments in the regime\u00a0<\/span>of space technology with its ripple effects in various areas of human\u00a0<\/span>engagements ranging from economy and politics to culture.\u00a0 It is an\u00a0<\/span>initiative of exposing students to new horizons of thoughts that may\u00a0<\/span>facilitate a paradigm shift from a geo-centric thinking to a cosmic\u00a0<\/span>approach and may help students equip themselves with the required\u00a0<\/span>knowledge, skills, aptitude and way of thinking required to live a\u00a0<\/span>meaningful life with dignity in contemporary era\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The chief guest of the program, Ms. Sobia Muqadam, provincial minister\u00a0<\/span>for women development, culture and youth affairs, appreciated the\u00a0<\/span>creative efforts of the students and stated that it is a first program\u00a0<\/span>that she has ever observed in Gilgit Baltistan with such a high level\u00a0<\/span>of quality.\u00a0 She announced Rs.30,000- (Thirty Thousand) for all the\u00a0<\/span>participants of\u00a0 the program.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, Mr. Iqbal Muhammad, President\u00a0<\/span>Karimabad Welfare Association paid vote of thanks in honor of all the\u00a0<\/span>distinguished guests. He reiterated his commitment and that of KWA for\u00a0<\/span>quality education. He also highly appreciated the efforts of teachers\u00a0<\/span>and principal for arranging a memorable series of rogram. Moreover he\u00a0<\/span>extended his thanks for the cooperation extended by various\u00a0<\/span>institutions including that of police, education department, Ismaili\u00a0<\/span>boy scouts and media representatives.
