Islamabad, January 25<\/strong>: The time is ripe for granting constitutional status to Gilgit – Baltistan region. PPP should nominate a candidate from GB for upcoming Senate elections.<\/p>\n

These views have been expressed by member of GB Council and PPP leader, Amjad Hussain Advocate, in a letter addressed to President Asif Ali Zardari.<\/p>\n

According to details Amjad Hussain, besides demanding\u00a0 representation for the region in Parliament, has also made recomandations for welfare of the people of Gilgit Baltistan.<\/p>\n

He, reportedly, wrote that the people of Gilgit Baltsitan have been\u00a0 deprived of their basic consitutional rights for the\u00a0 last 63 years but now time has come to give constitutional status to Gilgit Baltistan.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew set-up, under the\u00a0Empowerment and Self-Governance Order2009,\u00a0dose not meet the aspirations of the people\u201d, he has reportedly written.<\/p>\n

\u201cGilgit Baltistan should be made fifth\u00a0province\u00a0of\u00a0Pakistan\u201d, he suggested while maintaining that this step would not only end the deprivations of the people but also\u00a0\u00a0strengthen the \u00a0country.<\/p>\n
