With the help of GPS and a bit of artificial intelligence, the car can drive itself with very little or no intervention from the human sitting inside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That said, Nevada\u2019s regulations require two people in the test cars: one in the driver\u2019s seat, and other monitoring a computer screen that shows the car\u2019s planned route as well as traffic lights and other potential hazards on the road.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As soon as the \u201cdriver\u201d touches the brake or the wheel, he takes control of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We had a chance to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2011\/03\/03\/google-self-driving-car-video\/\">test out<\/a>\u00a0one of Google\u2019s self-driving cars in March 2011, and the results were good: no glitches, no unwanted close encounters with walls or other obstacles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In August 2011, one of Google\u2019s cars caused an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2011\/08\/05\/google-car-accident\/\">accident<\/a>\u00a0on the road. However, a Google representative told<em>Mashable<\/em>\u00a0that the car was in manual mode at the time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What are your thoughts on self-driving cars?
