Sost, May 23<\/strong>: Traders have started an indefinite strike the border town of Sost. Activities at the Pak – China Sost Port have come to a halt. The strike has been called on behest of the Gilgit – Baltistan Chamber of Commerce who have also presented a list of demands to the government.<\/p>\n

The traders have demanded construction of Truckable road between Hussaini and Gulmit, opening of the dammed Hunza River by any organization other than FWO, providing financial relief to the traders by waiving off loans and ensuring safety of traders on the Karakuram Highway. The demands were read out by the Chamber’s President, Javed Hussain. He threatened to spread the protests to other parts of the region by siding with various religious organizations, in case the demands were not fulfilled.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
