Gilgit, October 22:<\/strong> Muhammad Ali Akhtar, the provincial Finance Minister and Mirza Hussain, PMLQ’s regional president, have opposed the arranging of Wakhi-Tajik portion of the Silk Route Festival in Gulmit, Gojal. They have threatened that organizing the “Wakhi Tajik Festival” in Gulmit, Gojal, as part of the Silk Route Festival, without taking them into confidence will be dangerous.\u00a0The legislators also expressed anger at what they called the “introduction of Tajik culture” in the region.<\/p>\n

Both elected leaders from Nagar Valley raised the point during the on-going session of the Gilgit-Baltsitan Legislative Assembly today. They termed it to be an injustice with the people of Hunza-Nagar valley,which, they said, had been neglected.<\/p>\n

The legislators directed their anger at Sadia Danish, the Minister for Culture, Tourism, Sports and Youth Affairs. She responded by saying that she had also not been contacted for suggestions by the Tourism department. Sadia said that the elected representatives should be taken into confidence to make the festival successful.<\/p>\n

Their stance was also supported by GBLA Speaker, Wazir Baig, who said that the elected representatives have not been taken into confidence before arranging the festival.<\/p>\n

The Silk Route Festival is being organized by a committee specially formed by the Chief Secretary for this purpose under the leadership of KIU Vice Chancellor, Dr. Najma Najam.<\/p>\n

Opening event of the festival is scheduled to take place at KIU on 27th October, in which ambassadors from several countries are likely to participate. Events will also be held at Ghulmet (Raka Poshi View Point) Nagar, Altit (Central Hunza) and Gulmit (Gojal), upper Hunza.<\/p>\n

The festival is scheduled to finish on the 29th with a concluding ceremony to be held at the historical Polo Ground in Gulmit, \u00a0headquarters of the Tehsil Gojal.<\/p>\n

Silk Route Festival is aimed at attracting tourists to the Gilgit-Baltistan region. However, skeptics are of the view that not many tourists will visit the region in this part of the year.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
