Speakers and Deputy Speakers from National Assembly, Gilgit-Baltistan, four provinces and Azad Kashmir at the inaugural ceremony of the 17th Speakers’ Conference<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Islamabad, April 13:<\/strong>\u00a0The Seventeenth Conference of the Speakers started today in the federal capital. It will continue till the 15th.<\/p>\n

The conference was inaugurated by NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the Constitution Room of Parliament House.<\/p>\n

The Conference is being attended by Speakers and Deputy Speakers of Provincial Assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Speakers of Legislative Assemblies of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker from KPK were not present. The Secretaries of the Provincial legislatures and Legislative Assemblies are assisting their respective Speakers.<\/p>\n

GBLA Speaker Wazir Baig<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Speaking on the first day GBLA Speaker Wazir Baig said that the rights of Gilgit-Baltistan are being ignored. He urged the participants to accept the people of Gilgit-Baltistan as constitutional Pakistanis.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the importance of Gilgit-Baltistan, giving details about its geo-political, economic and strategic importance.<\/p>\n

The GBLA Speaker also reportedly said that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto played pivotal role in stirring the status-quo in Gilgit-Baltistan.<\/p>\n

The Speakers, during the course of deliberations, will review the decision taken in 16th Speakers Conference held in Lahore besides deliberating upon issues concerning legislation, working of committees and other administrative issues of their respective Houses and promotion of healthy Parliamentary traditions in Pakistan. On the conclusion of the Conference, \u201cIslamabad Declaration\u201d would be adopted.<\/p>\n

The Secretaries of the National and Provincial legislatures and Legislative Assemblies met in Islamabad on 3rd April, 2014 in Islamabad and finalized the agenda for the 17th Speakers Conference.<\/p>\n
