Gilgit, April 29:\u00a0<\/strong>The Martyr’s Day (Youm-e-Shuhada) was celebrated in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan today. Different events were held\u00a0by civil society organizations, government departments, schools and other institutions.<\/p>\n

A major event held in this connection at the FCNA Headquarters was attended by GB Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah and the Major General Masroor, Commander the Force Command Northern Areas (FCNA), along with dignitaries, government officials and veterans of the war of independence. Families of martyrs also participated in the event in large numbers.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the occasion GB Chief Minister blamed a private TV channel of taking money from India and working against the security forces of Pakistan. He also said that an eye should be kept at the said TV channel’s reporters in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. He paid rich tributes to the sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives for glory of the nation.<\/p>\n

The speakers, including Major General Masroor, paid glowing tributes to the martyrs and offered prayers for their souls.<\/p>\n

Students paid tributes to the martyrs by presenting tableau, skits and other items.<\/p>\n

Earlier, floral wreaths were laid at the monument of martyrs located in Chinar Bagh by hero of Gilgit-Baltistan’s war of independence, Group Captain (r) Shah Khan and Major General Masroor. The two leaders along with others also offered Fateha for the souls of the martyrs.<\/p>\n

In Ghizar, the Deputy Commissioner, Rashid Ali, visited the final resting place of Havildar Lalik Jan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider and offered Fateha at his tomb.<\/p>\n

Programmes were also held in other district headquarters and villages across the region.<\/p>\n
