Islamabad:<\/strong> Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed has said that the jurisdiction of the constitution of Pakistan does not extend to Gilgit-Baltistan. \u201cThe jurisdiction of our constitution is not beyond Pakistan’s boundaries\u201d, Rasheed said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He was responding to a question asked by a journalist who said that since the people GB carry a Pakistani passport, why is the decree of a court in Gilgit-Baltistan not implementable in Pakistan. The reporter was referring to a recent verdict given by an Anti-Terrorism Court in Gilgit against Jang Group Owner and Chief Editor Mir Shakilur Rehman, actress Veena Mali, her husband Assad Malik and morning show host Shaista Lodhi.<\/p>\n

Several legal and constitutional experts and analysts have termed the ATC verdict unimplementable. According to them, the court’s of the unconstitutional Gilgit-Baltistan region cannot decide cases related to the\u00a0constitutional citizens of Pakistan.<\/p>\n
