GILGIT<\/strong>: Gilgit Baltistan legislative assembly unanimously\u00a0passed a resolution to introduce local languages at primary level in\u00a0the region.<\/p>\n

During 1st sitting of the assembly’s\u00a010th session lawmaker\u00a0Rehana Ibadi tabled the Gilgit Baltistan Introduction of Local\u00a0Languages as Additional Subject at Primary Level resolution, which was supported by majority of the assembly’s members. The resolution was unanimously adopted by teh assembly. Lawmakers said that some the region’s languages face existential threats.<\/p>\n

A 2nd resolution was table by deputy speaker Jaffar Ullah who\u00a0said that\u00a0three Annual Development plan (ADP) PC-1 of the members of the house were\u00a0submitted to the\u00a0Planing Department but still they have not been approved.\u00a0He demanded that the preparation of ADPs be outsourced to some NGOs, criticizing the Planning Department officials for their ‘laxity’ and ‘inefficiency’. He said that due to the negligence of the officials of planing, the\u00a0annual development plan (ADP) could not be prepared and there are fears\u00a0to beg losses for the public due to delays in projects.<\/p>\n

Minister for works Dr Iqbal said that the\u00a0preparation of the ADP was the job of the planning department and if\u00a0there was any laxity on part of the officials concerned, action should\u00a0be taken against them. He added that the planning officials had been\u00a0negligent in carrying out their\u00a0duties. He said that the law makers have no powers, demanding\u00a0that the secretary be summoned to the house and grilled\u00a0about the\u00a0delay in the preparation of the ADP.<\/p>\n

Lawmaker Raja Jahanzaib on the occasion said that if the ministers are\u00a0unable to get official works done through their respective secretaries\u00a0they should resign and go home.<\/p>\n

During the session of the house, the speaker, Fida Muhammad Nashad,\u00a0had to pass a ruling directing the Chief Minister and other ministers to make their\u00a0respective planing officials\u00a0to follow and implement their\u00a0orders, saying the government officials were working under them. He\u00a0also said that if any secretary does not follow the directions of the\u00a0Chief minister, ministers and the Assembly, he can be removed from the post.<\/p>\n
