The prime minister was welcomed with slogans and claps as he reached the stadium with acting governor, president PPP and secretary general of the PPP\u2019s regional setup.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">\u00a0Quite opposite to the \u2018revolutionary\u2019 announcements that he was supposed to make, as touted by PPP\u2019s regional leadership, the PM failed to share any clear plan for uplift of the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">He announced provision of ambulances for the district headquarters hospitals, as part of the health reforms plan. He also announced 87 Crore rupees for revival of the health sector and creation of a medical and an engineering college in the region. The biggest announcement came for the hospitality sector, which the prime minister declared as an industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">He also promised that land will be allocated to government employees of GB in other provinces of the country and housing schemes for journalists and government employees will also be <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-7409\" href=\"http:\/\/pamirtimes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/29\/gilani-in-gilgit-thousands-listen-to-gilanis-speech-at-lalik-jan-shaheed-stadium\/gig2\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7409\" title=\"gig2\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pamirtimes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/gig2.jpg?resize=300%2C156\" alt=\"gig2\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" \/><\/a>established in the region to improve life standards. The prime minister also announced revival of the \u201cGilgit allowance\u201d, a special amount paid to employees serving in the difficult working conditions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Gilani said that all legitimate rights of the people affected by Diamir \u2013 Bhasha dam will be protected and special plans had been devised for rehabilitation of the displaced people. He also said that mega projects in the region would bring economic prosperity and create better opportunities for regional development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">The prime minister said that DC office in Hunza \u2013 Nagar district will be made functional within a couple of days. He, however, made no mention of the additional constituency demanded by people of Hunza valley.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">\u201cIdentity, administration and finance\u201d, the premier said, were the primary areas of improvement in the region. He said that question of identity has been answered by christening it \u201cGilgit \u2013 Baltistan\u201d. For betterment of administration he said that the local governor, chief minister, elected assembly have been provided under the \u2018empowerment order\u2019. He, however, did not announce any financial relief package for the region, during this speech.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Gilani said that the people of Gilgit \u2013 Baltistan have sacrificed a lot for the security and progress of Pakistan. \u201cOne of the evidences of the sacrifices\u201d, the prime minister said, \u201cis Lalik Jan Shaheed stadium\u201d.
