  2. “However, it is an irony that no action was taken against Sohail Saqlain, the health secretary, for abusing and physically assaulting public representatives and local elders at the civil hospital, Gulmit, a few weeks ago. Photographic proof of this ugly incident is available.”

Just a quick observation on this particular paragraph, I remember when Mr. Qurban Jan was the Secretary Health and Local Governments in 2005 the “public representatives” especially from Gulmit, were complaining about his behavior. Our representatives also went to the extent that they approached various newspapers, including DAWN to tell the people how bad Mr. Jan treated them, insulted not only them, but also their entire constituency. Dawn including various local newspapers published stories what had happened. They were sort of telling the entire bureaucrat community what should be the ethics of talking to public representatives. Not only this that they used their links to the news reporters and office bearers to quench their rage but also approached certain groups to teach him a lesson. I was wondering if our representatives are doing anything in this matter. Are they approaching someone at Dawn or the News in order to get the pictures (Photographic proofs) published or just keeping them posted on the book of their political career record?
Another thing, I am not sure if PT or any other local news paper/blog published this particular news before. If yes, well and good, if No, we got to think about it. A government servant come to our home, shows his meanness by abusing us, assaulting our elders and we just keep the photographic proof. Why can’t we tell the people through the media how have we been treated. Why can’t we discuss what should be our response to such events? What are we afraid of? If we are open and bold enough to criticize a public representative, Mr. Ghazanfar Khan why can’t we criticize a public servant- Mr. Sohail Saqlain?
