Private boats banned in dammed Hunza River

Hunza - Nagar district administration has banned activities of private boat operators in the dammed Hunza River for a period of two months

PT Report

Hunza, December 11: The Hunza – Nagar District administration has banned private boats from operating in the the dammed Hunza River. According to reports, the boats operated by NATCO will remain operational.

The ban has been imposed to ‘avoid any unforeseen accident’ due to freezing of the river’s water, according to sources.

It is pertinent to note that last year lives of passengers were jeopardized on several occasions, due to reckless attitude of boat operators.

Some quarters have criticized the decision, terming it to be an “anti-public” decision, quoting capacity of the NATCO operated fleet of boats to carry large numbers of commuters.
