Power tariff hike being planned in GB

Gilgit, February 8: After reduction in subsidy on wheat, Gilgit Baltistan government has decided to increase electricity prices alaos. New power tariff will soon be presented to the  provincial cabinet for approval.

Secretary water and power Guhlam Mehdi confirming the reports said that  the tariff had not been increased since 2005 and now  it was necessary to raise the power prices for achieving revenue collection targets .
“Currunt fisical year revenue target is  19 crore Rs and no stone will be left unturned for getting this”he added. He said ” there are   two and half lakh electricity consumers across Gilgit Baltistan and four kilowatt electricity is used in every house  and its bill should be minimum 300 Rs per month”.How ever he did not give any detail about the new price formula.
Sources revealed that current financial crisis was the main reason behind the decision and economic managers found no way to over come the difficulties except increase the power prices

  1. The plan for increase in electricity bill is actually not for the wellbeing of public but it is only for the advantage of the few Politician’s, who misuse the development budget in zero progress activities.

  2. i think increasing in the bill of electricity is not in the favor of public… so please stop these things
